Our work at KERTIS is a balance of thinking & doing. Our creative work is rooted in strategy and executed in-house. Our primary media are documentary & campaign-style video, photography, and design. We do a significant amount of strategic campaign work including brand development and concepting. Producers support all of these efforts.

We are adding a Senior Editor to our team, someone with an innate talent for storytelling and the ability to build content in a creative and compelling way. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits (see below).


What does a Senior Editor do at KERTIS?

Senior Editors coordinate with the creative director and production team to aid in the development of a vision and creative strategy for a given project and then carry out that creative vision in the editing process. They collaborate during every phase of editing: narrative-building, music + sound design, graphics, etc. to ensure that the final product meets client expectations, the creative vision, and KERTIS standards.

Senior Editors research and vet new software and updates, troubleshoot technical issues, and stay up to date on evolving video trends and technology; additionally, they are responsible for maintaining and managing archives and connected editing system(s) (NAS).

Displaying flexibility, creativity, diplomacy, and calm under pressure, Senior Editors are also responsible for educating and guiding Associate Editors and Intern Editors throughout the editing process.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Producers and Creative Directors to collaborate in both project development and post production execution

  • Complete assigned editing projects on time according to project milestones, phases, and quality expectations

  • Adapt to editing assignments of varying needs including duration, style, and most of all - story

  • Follow Post Production best practices and protocols around a project’s organization and redundancy throughout its life cycle

  • Support Post Production department in tasks surrounding media management including project archiving, NAS space administration, and external hard drive oversight

  • Aid Director of Post Production in departmental systems development and betterment 

  • Periodically provide Associate Editors and Interns with constructive feedback and guidance

Skills & Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience editing video in a professional, deadline-driven environment (creative agencies, production companies, in-house creative departments, freelance)

  • Proficient knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and related apps; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud functionality

  • With a keen attention to detail, demonstrate proficiency in color correction, audio editing, sound mixing, basic graphics implementation, and story structures

  • Strong time-management skills with ability to maintain accurate schedules

  • Personal conduct that reflects a diplomatic, supportive team member with professional communication skills across platforms

  • Flexibility to adjust to last-minute schedule shifts and other unknowns 

  • Self-motivated, open-minded, and community-minded

  • Motion graphic design, graphic design, 3D animation experience are a plus but not a requirement

Salary + Benefits

Approximately $52-62k Base Compensation depending on experience / skill level
